New: Dua Saleh – ‘I do, I do’

Sudanese-American artist Dua Saleh is back with a new track that balances old with the new, throwback comfort with a fresh, new perspective.

I Do, I Do‘ is a ballad done Saleh-style, featuring satisfying 80s synths on the production but with a vocal treatment on their beautiful falsetto that gives the song an edge and turns it to look to the future. The third single from the forthcoming album Of Earth & Wires is also underscored by an oud, a Middle Eastern instrument central to Sudances folk music, here plucked by Malek Vossough.

Saleh says,”‘I Do, I Do’ is rooted in Sudanese colloquialisms and idioms, using the vernacular as a vessel for something much larger – societal collapse, and the subsequent destruction of the Earth. The survivors, post-apocalypse, now scrounge for resources, Wild Wild West style. We incorporated an Oud into the song as well as a nod to Sudan.”

As well as this new offering, Saleh has announced she will be touring the UK, EU amd US later this year with a London date on 12th July at the Jazz Café. For more details see Live Dates.
