Danish legend trentemøller has just dropped a new single alongside news of his eighth studio album, entitled…trentemøller. How can one word say so much?!
The writer, producer and musician just shared first single, ‘Terrified’, a collaboration with Jonas Bjerre of Mew. The track is sparkly, psychedelic electronica with Bjerre singing about confronting fear. trentemøller adds, “‘Terrified‘ is probably the poppiest song on the album. In its original form it sounded a lot more shoegazey, but I wanted it to be crisper and clearer, less washed out. So I went for synths that almost sound like human voices, with a magical, otherworldly quality to them. When the instrumental was done, I sent it to Jonas Bjerre with a few melody ideas, which he took further while adding new melodies of his own.”
trentemøller will be touring the album across the EU next March after an inaugural date playing Berlin on 27th February. He’ll play London’s Electric Ballroom on 11th March.
