Loverboy talks to Rogan Richards

What did you do post education?
I was a late bloomer in life and was really floundering towards the end of my schooling and years after. But I did study film-making and started modelling and dancing.

What are the perks that porn has offered you?
It opened so many opportunities for me and has founded the machine that is now Rogan Richards. Ultimately it was up to me to expand myself from ‘run-of-the-mill’ porn star to the self produced industry I am today but I respect and acknowledge that porn kick-started my career.

There are many different body types in porn and I’m sure they go in and out of fashion. How have these fashions affected your career in porn?
If anything it would be the reverse, my physique has affected my porn career. When I was leaner and smoother the industry labelled me a ‘Jock’ then I got hairier and much thicker and I was a ‘Daddy.’ I think I’m pretty much stuck with ‘Daddy’ now no matter where I go from here.

Do porn stars feel the need to push themselves sexually to stay in the limelight?
I can’t speak for other porn stars but personally I do explore a wider range of sexual acts than I would normally because I want to expand my audience and fan-base.

More and more men seem to be bulking up these days. Do you think it is because of a passing trend?
I don’t pay much attention to trends except pop culture, but I definitely think there is a tendency in our community to follow ‘body’ trends. I keep pushing myself to be bigger for two reasons. Firstly I need to challenge myself in life, so with bodybuilding it’s to get massive. Secondly I’m an Alpha.

I know competing as a bodybuilding was important to you because of your Dad. Can you tell us about that?
It was one of the most difficult, amazing, interesting and revealing adventures I’ve embarked on in my life. Me being me I turned the camera on and tried to capture a lot of the experience on film for a doco I am making called The Road to Arnie that will be available to view on my site.

Do you have specific career goals or are you just seeing where it takes you?
You didn’t hear? World domination.
