Primavera Sound 2024 just revealed its Ciutat headliners

It’s official, Spring is truly in the air. The days are lighter, the mornings less bleak and Primavera Sound just dropped the line up for their A La Ciutat shows this summer.

The Barcelona festival is consistently our yearly highlight, with more and more friends flying in for the party. And what better way to get amped for the four day music festival in the Catalan capital than with some of the acts playing intimate gigs across the city’s smaller venues.

The Ciutat shows are always a once-in-a-lifetime moment, like Megan Thee Stallion playing to 2,000 stans in Razzmatazz, queues around the block and Pet Shop Boys giving us all the hits in the even smaller Apolo, bringing tears to our eyes. Some have even confessed that Ciutat is their favourite part of the festival as it’s just totally unique to Primavera Sound, imagine being in the 1,500 crowd at Paral-lel catching Jorja Smith?! Por favor…

This week the festival announced whyo would be playing the always in-demand Ciutat shows and we’re psyched to see some of our faves but equally excited to deep dive into the line up and find new obsessions.

Shout out to our Italians Do It Better family, with Desire and Johnny Jewel bringing the goth-Italo noir vibes. Johnny’s shows are always a mood giving the perfect soundtrack to get murdered to. Andwe have not seen Desire since the release of their sophomore album, Escape, so we cannot wait get swoon to Megan’s voice. Plus their debut, self-titled album, legit stays in our Top albums of all time.

Representing the queers will be hyper-pop icon Dorian Electra, giving you everything, everywhere, all at once with their maximalism. While the act we are most excited to see is Brooklyn’s Model/Actriz. Joining them on the line up will be Producer Dave P who says, ‘Once again I shall return to my favorite city in ALL THE WORLD for another TRANSCENDENTAL futuristic sound experience at my favorite festival in ALL THE WORLD, @primavera_sound in Barcelona!!!’

Loverboy is also excited to see the Obama-endorsed Angelica Garcia with her Spanish-sung electro post-punk. Also excited to catch local kween Ariox who will be providing a Catalan moment of Yaeji, Jessie Lanza-style bedroom pop.
