NEW: Dua Saleh shares two new singles, with album out in May

Sudanese-American artist and actor, Dua Saleh, just dropped the first two singles from their upcoming album.

The Sex Education star has released two clues of what to expect from Of Earth & Wires out 15th May via Ghostly International. ‘Flood‘, Saleh explains, is ‘an allegory for staying afloat rather than drowning in grief, shaped in part by memories of experiencing climate-related flooding while living in Cardiff, Wales.’ Both tracks are collaborations with Wisconsin’s own Bon Iver, here supplying the hypnotic hook in falsetto, over a throwback synth and with Saleh singing of the grief inside them growling. ‘Glow‘ has a funkier, deeper groove, but still connected via producer Billy Lemos’ synth. Saleh reveals, ‘The session felt unusually fluid. We were all writing together, following instinct. I think we got like six songs within the span of three hours.’

On Of Earth & Wires Saleh threads and deconstructs indie, R&B and electronic pop with flashes of Sudanese folk, UK dance and baile funk, sounds intrinsic to their story and held together by ambitious, future-facing production and clear-eyed lyricism.
