NEW: Downtown Boys – ‘No Me Jodas’

Sub Pop-signed US punk band Downtown Boys just dropped the blistering ‘No Me Jodas’ and announced their upcoming album Public Luxury – out 26th June.

No Me Jodas translating as ‘Don’t fuck with me’ is one big, loud, party anthem, taking inspo from 60s punk and featuring the most epic grandios intro. The track and forthcoming material was produced by Seth Manchester (Model/Actriz, Lambrini Girls) with frontwoman Victoria Marie saying, ‘The video for ’No Me Jodas’ is inspired by the aesthetic of ‘chicha’ —a music culture out of Peru that is also about economics, work, partying, life, desire, and nightlife. The ethic, as put by one Chicha musician, Chacalón, is two words: chamba and vacilón (hard work and partying).’

Years in the making, Public Luxury comes nearly a decade after Downtown Boys’ previous album, Cost of Living, their acclaimed Sub Pop debut. But the Downtown Boys never stopped: they were touring throughout and composed the soundtrack for the Italian movie Miss Marx, which won awards for best score at the 2020 Venice Film Festival.
