NEW: Anyx – ‘Strange Times’

Strange Times‘ is the latest single from Berlin-based artist Anyx, taken from her debut solo album Starlink, due for release on 28th August.

We couldn’t have asked for a better soundtrack to yesterday’s otherworldly solar eclipse. Built around tolling bells, haunting vocals and a slowly shifting atmosphere, the track seemed to mirror the strange, suspended feeling of watching the light change around us, moving from darkness into light without ever losing its sense of mystery.

The accompanying video takes that atmosphere somewhere unexpectedly pastoral. Anyx appears in a field alongside cows, with the animals becoming part of the film’s natural choreography rather than simply serving as visual decoration.

“I chose to work with cows because I have always been fascinated by their presence,” she explains. “Rather than asking the animals to perform, I wanted to respond to their presence and let the encounter itself shape the film. The cows were never meant to represent anything. What interested me was the choreography that developed between us. They were simply present as living beings with their own rhythm, their own awareness and their own agency.”

With Starlink arriving later this month, “Strange Times” feels like a fitting introduction to Anyx’s solo debut — eerie, spacious and quietly hypnotic.
