FAUNA’s new menu is ferocious and fabulous

There have been celebrations here in Barcelona this week as we said goodbye to further Covid restrictions including the wearing of masks in the street. Kimpton Vivdora’s FAUNA restaurant is also acknowledging this major mouth-related moment by launching a whole new menu extravagaaaaanza entitled Casa de Vivi.
On Saturday we went to experience Head Chef Jordi Delfa‘s new menu with our very own mouths and it was a joyous event! Situated in Barcelona’s historic Gotico area, the views from Kimpton Vividora are always stunning, whether it’s from the  ‘if-these-pavements-could-speak’ cobbled streets or the hotel’s stunning views across the the city from Vivi’s rooftop bar terrace.
Upon entering the hotel, it instantly feels like home, albeit a super glamorous one! In contrast to the grey, gothic city landscape outside, Kimpton Vividora is full of colour and life. We started our evening in GOT Coffee & Cocktails on the ground floor with a super chic cocktail created by Bad Company. The inventive and creative La Paleta de Pablo Picasso was the perfect way to get the party started allowing us to personalise the drink to our own palette. To hell with Picasso’s!

From there we snuck away to the more intimate ‘escapada’ environs of FAUNA. It was the perfect setting for the delicious menu, Chef Jordi had created. We began our meal as you should every meal – with the freshest of oysters, natural and Galician style! Having cleansed our palettes, we delved in to try the Croquetas de Jamón de Bellota, the cod fritters served with honey & lime and the spectacular steak tartare. All so good.

Then for our main we sampled the sumptuous solomillo with asparagus cream and trufa and also the grilled kimchi octopus with black garlic mayonnaise and smoked butter potato. Chef Jordi’s culinary proposal is based on local Catalan-Mediterranean cuisine, focusing mainly on the product and prioritizing quality over any other element. It was truly a mouth-watering menu.

For dessert, we sampled the creamy kaffir lime tart with meringue and the always delicious strawberry cheesecake, deciding to save the mundo de chocolate for our next visit – the question is how long will we be able to wait?!

With FAUNA’s new menu and Bad Company’s cocktails, you will be living it up at Casa de Vivi, Barcelona.
