On Friday singer/songwriter Bright Light Bright Light dropped a brand new single with none other than ex-Scissor Sister Ana Matronic. The duo have paired up for a duet on ‘Cold Sweat, Hot Boys‘ inspired by Ana’s DJ sets at Wet Noise in NYC. The Hi-NRG, Cruising-coded track has Ana delivering her lines in her trademark drawl with Rod chanting ‘Set me free’ on the chorus.
Rod adds ‘I wrote the song after one of Ana’s many amazing DJ sets at Wet Noise in NYC – about the total euphoria she creates with her sets that really take you out of the everyday and into such a magical world. That night was amazing, and I met lots of (hot) boys and some who are still good friends.
The original demo ended up as a bonus track on Enjoy Youth, but it never felt fully complete. After hanging out in 2025, one night I thought: why not ask Ana to re-record my vocals, since the song was written about a night she created? Suddenly it felt like it was in its final form. I reworked the production so Ana’s vocals sizzle over the top, and as one of my favourite people on earth, it’s a joy to have yet another song featuring this wonderful human. I love Ana beyond words.’
The duet is from the upcoming Bright Light Bright Light DUETS EP which reimagines previously solo Bright Light Bright Light songs as collaborations with long-standing creative partners.
Alongside the EP, Bright Light Bright Light will also be touring his show Not Like All The Other Boys during 2026. A cabaret-leaning, conversational show that includes 12-14 songs from Rod’s back catalogue and pairs them with the moments that inspired them.
