Our guys MAQUINA. are back and on the new Double A-Side ‘pressure/pleasure‘ / ‘agony‘ they are dragging us through every emotion known to man in seven-minutes-and-fifty-nine seconds. Buckle up, it’s going to be the best kind of a bumpy ride.
The Portuguese/Brasilian trio have been hitting the road hard over the last two years, touring relentlessly and feeding crowds their rough’n’raw noise-rock. ‘pressure / pleasure’ picks up where 2024’s PRATA left off, full of distorted vocal samples, sexy bass lines and beats that build and build. The track leans more into their club sound recalling peak The Chemical Brothers at their most caustic. Meanwhile ‘agony’ throws us right into the mosh pit to get lost in Halison Peres’ high-energy and half-coherent howls. “False speech / is belief / is distraction / to deceive,” he spits, reminding us that art cannot be created in a vacuum. “It’s about the false speech that politicians always try to push, towards some enemy or something, to deceive what they really want to do,” reflects Peres.
Third album BODY TRANSMISSION is out 10th July via Fuzz Club and promises ‘a head-banging trip’ that takes in ‘motorik metal and industrial punk that doesn’t stop moving.’ The group also have their summer dates lined up for headline shows, festival appearances and DJ sets. They play four dates in the UK next month including Downstairs at the Dome in London on 20th May.
