Back in June, singer/songwriter Allie X slipped into our DMs to warn us of a new major pop emergency – ‘New record coming soon btw.’ Now, four months later she is here to introduce the world to her alter ego The Infant Marie with her fourth album, Happiness Is Going To Get You – out now.

Lead single ‘Is Anybody Out There?‘ was the perfect way to herald the return of the quen of alt-pop, with its stacked harmonies and off-kilter production. Follow-up ‘Reunite‘ revealed the true Renaissance Baroque-coco of HIGGY replete with harpsichord, timpani and full strings. A special shout out from us to the celestial ballad ‘It’s Just Light‘ allowing X’s voice to soar. While Girl With No Face had a very precise soundpalette, HIGGY embraces the chaos and looks as much to Air as it does Paul McCartney and Tori Amos.
