Love Is…Brian Maier

Yesterday we interviewed Julian Serrano as part of our new ‘Love Is…’ feature. We also gave you a flash of who was next. Unlike Julian and his ass, today’s contributor is not known for posing in his pants. In fact when he took the photo he made a special effort as he initially told us, ‘it’s hard because I don’t usually wear underwear.’ Oh.

But meet Deep House/Techno DJ Brian Maier, a San Francisco resident, naturally. Here’s what he had to tell us…

What’s your favourite candy?
It would have to be skittles. I was pretty fascinated with these as a kid, I’d take groups of them and pop them in my mouth until they dissolved in to a patty of sorts. Wouldn’t really chew them as much as I’d hold them on my tongue. You probably didn’t know that if you do this enough you can sort of burn your taste buds. Don’t ask me how I know this.

What’s your ring tone?
My ring tone is the Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past … the opening track. The chime always reminds me of running home from school to play the game, and spending hours with my friends exploring all the different villages and dungeons. I’ve gotten so many comments on it, I lost count. It’s really a great way to grab my attention, bring me instantly back to a time and place, and simultaneously communicate to anyone who hears it that — yes — I had a SNES at one time and — yes — I loved this game.

Who is your all time crush?
Hmm, all time crush? Wow, I feel like that changes a lot. I truly believe that we’re all beautiful in our own way, so when it comes down to it there are a lot of people I find attractive for one reason or another. Presently, I’d have to say that Kit Harington is kind of doing it for me. In Game of Thrones, he plays this dejected youth who is coming in to his own — and there’s a sensitive side of him that makes his charm all the more appealing. In the movie Pompei recently, he was the only saving grace of the flick.

What song always gets you dancing?
Robyn’s I Keep Dancing On My Own. I know, kind of cliche, but hey, I hear it and I can’t stop myself. There’s a subtle nod to independence, loss, and strength all within these catchy lyrics — and I almost jumped for joy in the episode of HBO’s Girls when the track comes on and Hannah starts dancing.

What brand/type of underwear do you wear?
I’m a big fan of Nasty Pig underwear, and I also have been known to break out Addicted jock straps from time to time. My favorite underwear have to be my Andrew Christian briefs, however. I get more compliments in those than I do in the others.

How many dates till we get to third base?
That depends. I don’t typically go on true “dates” with the intent of hooking up, so if its really going to mean something it may very well be that we don’t get to third base — heck, we may not even make it to first. I keenly remember rejecting my first long term partner’s notion to spend the night the first night we went out together. I wanted something more and I wanted to communicate that with a slower approach. That said, I have also had sex with a person first only to date them later on. So, it really depends. For Kyle and I, we had our first date and it went on for about 8 hours. There was only mild affection for the first few hours but as the night wore on we couldn’t help cuddling, kissing, and running pass home plate.
