Why did you want to work with Seth?
I had admired Seth long before I approached him to work together. He has this confidence in all his pictures that just stands out along with all that beauty. With the distinction of being such a redheaded icon he is hard to miss, but I knew that if given the chance, I would try to do something that would be different than anything he had done before. That is always the challenge with working with people so well known.

Do you usually like working on ideas with the model? Did you with Seth?
There is always a bit of collaboration but in a great sense, models are stepping into the Venfield8 world and along with that come certain expectations. We knew we wanted to create images that would be lasting and iconic but beyond that Seth trusted me enough to show up and be ready for anything.

How easy was it to have Seth walking down the street naked?
Seth is amazing he didn’t really think twice when I suggested he walked down Canon Blvd in Beverly Hills naked. We jumped in the car, found a relatively quiet street, he got out threw off the robe and started walking! There were some construction workers working on a house on one side of the street. A couple of them just stopped and watched Seth work it in front of the camera. They had to have been shocked, but if they were they didn’t show it. But this is LA, let’s face it, not everyone may walk down the street naked, but they are pretty adept at spotting a photoshoot happening. And who doesn’t want to see Seth naked?

What common themes do you bring to every shoot?
I try to bring a sense of style and surprise to every picture. I like to use masculinity and the unexpected to provoke and amuse. And mostly I don’t want to just take beautiful pictures. How boring. There are way too many of those out there. A Venfield8 image needs to say more than ‘Isn’t this a pretty man?’

What was unique about Seth’s shoot?
We really strived to do a fantasy version of ‘Seth in Los Angeles’ from walking in Beverly Hills to hanging out with a chauffeur and experiencing the glamour, style & violence of the city.

Who would you most like to shoot?
Wow. Tough question. I am insatiable that target keeps moving. There are so many people. I would love to work with Francois Sagat, Jesse Metcalfe, Willy Gomez, Jai Courtney, Lucas Loyola and so many more.

Has it been easy getting jobs while working behind an alias?
Crazily enough, yes. I get approached a lot. Unfortunately, I end up having to say ‘No’ more often than not as my schedule is crazy. I try to pick shoots and projects that allow me to expand my personal vision, not someone else’s. To be in that position is a luxury, to say the least. I am very grateful to be in such demand.

Madonna is an obvious reference for this shoot. Who else were you referencing?
That’s funny. From the inception, Madonna was never mentioned, but now that you mention it I see it. How cool is that? Madonna is so iconic, so inbred in creative people. I guess you can’t deny it. But I was also influenced by Helmut Newton and I think that was successful as well.

How long had you been wanting to work with V8?
It must have been sometime in 2014 that V8’s publicist reached out to me expressing interest in a collaboration. That same day I started researching him and looking at the vast collection of his work online. I wanted to work with him instantly! I was honored and so excited that someone who produced such gorgeous photos had the desire to work with me.

What kind of thing do you look for in a photo shoot? Do you have things you prefer/avoid?
I look for an artist that can set a mood in a photo or produce photos that move me. These days I try to avoid simple physique shots. I prefer photos that I can look back on and remember a place I was at in my life because they captured that in the shoot.

Last time we spoke you said you wanted to get into acting. Are you any further with that?
I have done several television commercials with Nasty Pig that aired on Logo. I also just did my own episode of Boys of Life, an arousing film series that captures the beauty of the male body and the spirit of poetry. But so far no speaking parts. One day…..

Do you have any funny anecdotes from the shoot with V8?
The whole thing was a lot of fun! I basically ran around L.A. naked all day. :)
