AMOUR by Franck Glenisson

Right now, there are gay men being captured and sent to concentration camps, where they are being tortured until they give up their other friends’ whereabouts or just until they die. For some reason the media downplayed it – unfathomable really when you think about what this really means.

Art Director Franck Glenisson has been inspired to create this editorial with which he hopes to raise awareness and through the powers of the internet reach the Chechen LGBT community and offer them hope. We talk to Franck more about his latest project, AMOUR.

What inspired you to create this editorial?
LGBT Concentration Camps are back in history! Chechen teenagers are waiting for their families to kill them so as not to be tortured and killed by the police. I couldn’t just sit back and be indignant at this genocide in silence. I had to communicate directly with the whole Chechnya & Russian LGBT community through social media, show them that they are not invisible, that the world is watching them!
I do not want to be awkward, I did not want to make a fashion editorial but a visual work that will enhance the visibility of these people. This story is the vector that connects me to them and hopefully one that will connect Loverboy readers to communicate with them, reassuring them on social media.

And tell us more about Mitchell and Oleksii.
Mitchell has offered his talents as an actor and also his notoriety to the service of this story. I had already collaborated with Oleksii on Stephan(i)e, my film about Trans Empowerment. But Mitchell & Oleksii are both straight and I want to thank them for plunging into this adventure without hesitation. I also want to shout out to Mickael Carpin the stylist for this project, I loved working with him, he’s very talented!
